Prof Anwar resigns as JU VC
Prof Anwar Hossain resigned as the vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University today following months of agitation by a section of teachers and students.
Prof Anwar sent his resignation letter to President Abdul Hamid, who is also the chancellor of the university, today.
“I have already sent my resignation letter to Chancellor Abdul Hamid,” he told The Daily Star.
Prof Anwar Hossain is the fifth vice-chancellor of the university who had to step down in the face of movement, reports our JU correspondent.
On December 5, a team of police escorted Prof Anwar out of the campus, upon directives from the government high-ups, in the face of relentless protests by teachers-students.
Later, Prof Anwar had rented a house in capital's Uttara and declared it as his temporary office.
