Probe team quizzes two Rab men
The probe team, formed following a High Court order, yesterday quizzed two members of Rapid Action Battalion over the abduction and murder of seven people in Narayanganj in late April this year.
The seven-member team, led by Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Shahjahan Ali Molla, interrogated Abdus Salam, deputy assistant director of Rab-11, and Abdus Samad, its member, at Narayanganj Circuit House.
On July 22, the two Rab men gave judicial statements to a Narayanganj court.
Seven people including Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam and lawyer Chandan Sarker were kidnapped in two separate incidents on April 27 and found dead in the river Shitalakkhya on April 30 and May 1.
Selina Islam Beauty, wife of Nazrul, filed a case with Fatullah Model Police Station accusing seven including key suspect Nur Hossain, arrested in Kolkata of India on June 14.
Bijoy Kumar Paul, son-in-law of Chandan, filed another case over the killing. Three Rab-11 top officials were fired over their alleged involvement in the murders. The three--Lt Col Tarek Syed Mahmud, Maj Arif Hossain and Lt Commander MM Rana--were later arrested and placed on remand.
