Pro-BNP lawyers boycott SC
Pro-BNP lawyers boycotted the Supreme Court today as part of their countrywide boycott programme demanding cancellation of the latest constitutional amendment.
The lawyers stayed out of the courtrooms this morning amidst a dawn-to-dusk shutdown sponsored by the BNP-led 20-party alliance in protest against the amendment.
A group of lawyers led by Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia brought out a procession at the court premises around 11:00am.
They locked the gates of the Supreme Court Bar Association building and were holding a meeting in front of the office until 11:45am when the report was filed.
The boycott programme was declared by the Bangladesh Bar Council on Saturday demanding annulment of the 16th amendment that empowered the lawmakers to impeach Supreme Court judges on grounds of misbehaviour or misconduct.
