Power supply in different parts of the capital has been disrupted for several hours as two sub-stations went out of service this afternoon.
The areas include Rampura, Shantinagar, Segunbagicha, Kakrail, Karwan Bazar and Dhanmondi.

“The supply of electricity in some parts of the capital has been hampered since 3:00pm as the Ulon grid sub-station at Rampura and Dhanmondi grid sub-station went out of order due to glitches in their circuit breakers,” said Kamrun Nahar, public relations officer of Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC).
“The repair work is underway. The supply will resume around 10:00pm,” she told The Daily Star tonight.
The power outage has caused acute sufferings for the residents in those areas.
A shopkeeper in Karwan Bazar kitchen market said his business has been hampered seriously due to the power cut.
