Power outage disrupts flight operation at Ctg airport
The power failure for two hours at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong disrupted flight operation this morning.
The airport experienced the power blackout from 6:30am to 8:20am, said Noor-E-Alam, the airport manager.
Since the signal lights were not working during the period, the authorities were forced to halt the flight operations, the manager said adding that the officials still managed to continue some activities manually.
Two flights -- a domestic and an international -- were scheduled to land at the second largest international airport during the period, he said.
A flight of Oman Airways was scheduled to land at the airport at 8:43am but it touched the tarmac 13 minutes later while a domestic flight of US-Bangla Airlines landed at the airport around 9:13 am delaying 28 minutes following the blackout.
The power supply from Power Development Board and generator were okay but the electricity supply distribution panel of the airport hanged due to a technical glitch, causing the situation, said Noor-E-Alam.
The passengers have had to suffer during the blackout, he said.
