There will be no hunger, poverty in Bangladesh: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said she wanted to see a hunger and poverty free Bangladesh upholding the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“We want to see a hunger and poverty free Bangladesh where no people will be homeless and without food,” Hasina said while addressing a meeting with Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student front of Awami League, at her official residence, Gono Bhaban, in Dhaka this afternoon.
The prime minister also called upon the BCL leaders and activists to be vocal against the militancy and said they will have to uphold principle and ideology to reduce illiteracy and poverty in the country.
Reiterating her government's firm stance against terrorism, Hasina warned that there will be no room for militancy in Bangladesh and the BCL leaders and activists will have to be watchful so that no one gets derailed.
Citing her government’s development and progresses in different sectors, Hasina said: “World leaders tell me Bangladesh is a mystery in the development and they ask me do you know any magic.”
Now Bangladesh does not extend its hand for help to any foreign countries, Hasina said adding, “We don’t call any country as donors rather we call them as a development partner.”
