PM avoids responsibility ignoring proposal: BNP
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the premier has “avoided her responsibility” by ignoring Khaleda Zia’s proposal on the formation of a new election commission.
“She (Hasina) is a prime minister and also chief of the ruling Awami League and thus her comment on the election commission was necessary,” Fakhrul told The Daily Star.
He also said the prime minister’s comment proved that she failed to identify the real problem behind the present crisis of absence of the people’s voting rights.
Fakhrul underscored the need for a dialogue on formation of the new election commission and said people’s voting rights can be restored through formation of a strong and neutral election commission.
“Through constructive dialogue, we will be able to find out the way for holding a free, fair and inclusive election,” he added.
