No polls if Khaleda jailed in false case: Fakhrul
- Threatens to thwart polls
-Slams PM for criticising Yunus
- Terms EC as political person
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today threatened to thwart any election in the country if the party chief Khaleda Zia is jailed in any false case.
“The countrymen will not participate in any election if Khaleda Zia is convicted in any false case,” he said while addressing a programme at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity this afternoon.
Fakhrul also came down on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina heavily for her bitter criticism against Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus and said the entire world is showing honor to him (Yunus).
“But, you (Hasina) have personally identified Muhammad Yunus as enemy as because people say you (PM) deserve the Nobel Peace Prize,” he said.
He also reiterated that the newly appointed chief election commissioner is a political person and he has been rendered jobless due to his indulgence in politics. “Evidence in this regard is available.”
