No polls will be allowed without BNP: Fakhrul
BNP today said it will not allow holding of any election in the country without the participation of the party.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir came up with the statement at a protest meeting in Dhaka’s Jatiya Press Club this noon.
BNP organised the programme in protest of “enforced disappearance” of its leaders and activists including its former organising secretary M Illias Ali.
In the programme Fakhrul said, “Don’t intimidate BNP by saying that the party’s registration with the Election Commission will be scrapped if it does not take part in the next parliamentary elections”.
Rather the government should try to take measures to bring BNP in the next national election race, he said.
Fakhrul also said that BNP is an election-oriented political party which believes that there is no alternative to go to power without election.
The government is involved in the politics of enforced disappearance and killing of oppositiion men, Fakhrul alleged adding that those who are involved in these crimes will be tried in future.
