Take steps for congenial atmosphere in NCC polls: BNP
BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan today urged the Election Commission to take necessary step so that the Narayanganj City Corporation election is held in a free, fair and credible manner.
“We requested the Election Commission to create a congenial atmosphere in Narayanganj City Corporation area so that people can cast their votes in a peaceful manner,” Khan told reporters after meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed.
Reiterating his party demand for deployment of army in the election, Khan said the Election Commission will have to take necessary measures to keep the law and order situation under control.
Earlier in the day, Khan along with a leader of the party met the CEC and placed the demand before him at the Election Commission secretariat at Agargaon in Dhaka.
Narayanganj City Corporation will enter election for mayor and councillor posts on December 22.
