HC orders not to arrest BNP’s Sohel
The High Court today ordered the law enforcers not to harass or arrest BNP leader Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel without any specific case or any arrest warrant after his release from jail.
The bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan passed the order following a writ petition filed by Sohel seeking necessary order on the law enforcers not to harass or arrest him without specific case or arrest warrant of the court after he gets released from jail.
Sohel’s lawyer Advocate M Masud Rana told The Daily Star that his client has got bail from the High Court and lower courts in all 147 criminal cases filed with different police stations since 2013.
But, he feared that he might be rearrested after getting released from Keraniganj jail, as he was detained on March 6 after release, he said citing from the writ petition.
On October 9 last year, Sohel, a joint secretary general of BNP and president of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal, was sent to jail after he surrendered to a Dhaka court in 41 arson cases filed with different police stations in the capital.
