Govt says no uranium in haor waters without tests: Rizvi
BNP Senior Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed today alleged that without conducting any test the government is saying that there is no presence of uranium in haor waters.
“The government has failed to mitigate suffering of the haor people and now it is telling without any test or investigation that there is no uranium in the water of flashflood affected haor area,” Rizvi said.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka, Rizvi also said that people do not believe in any investigation of the present government.
The government is carrying out special drives against 20-party alliance leaders and activists across the country to hide its failure in mitigating sufferings of the haor people.
Rizvi alleged the “government force” started attacking opposition men to divert people’s resentment over PM’s failed India visit.
On recent detentions of 20-party men
He said police with assistance of the ruling party’s local influential people carried out raids in different parts of Tongi area yesterday and detained at least 15 leaders of BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Around 189 leaders and activists of the 20-party alliance were also detained from different areas of Jamalpur in last two days. The law enforcers also detained 41 BNP men from Sathkhira recently, he claimed.
Apart from this, around 39 BNP men from Bagherhat and seven from Meherpur were also arrested in the same period with false and motivated cases, he said.
Coming down heavily on the government, Rizvi claimed that the government has let loose the members of the law enforcement agencies and its party men to eliminate BNP.
“But the government’s strategy to meet the dream will go in vain,” he added.
