Govt making country dysfunctional: BNP
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed today said the government is making Bangladesh a dysfunctional country by sacrificing its interests to appease ‘another country’.
“Our sovereignty, independence, security and progress have already been put at stake due to the government’s anti-state policies,” Rizvi blamed while addressing a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka.
The BNP leader also accused the government of working silently to sell out the country in a planned way by showing submissive policies to India.
He also criticised Indian government for its interlinking project that diverted the water flow of Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers.
“Our geographical and ecological existences are being badly affected due to such activities,” he added.
Despite having no sustainable infrastructure, the government has given corridor facilities to India in the name of transit. The government is allowing India to use the Ashuganj River Port with a lower rate of tariff at Tk 192 per tonne, he said.
About BNP’s political stance over India, Rizvi said BNP considers a friendly neighbourhood and a strong tie with the country, but it has to be based on equality and mutual understanding.
Rizvi said the government is now trying to increase the gas tariff to plunder public money.
He urged the government not to hike the gas price for the sake of common people who are already struggling with the unusual prices hike of daily essentials.
