EC formation: AL will accept president’s decision, says Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said his party would accept the president’s decision on formation of the Election Commission (EC).
AL will accept the president’s decision even if it goes against the party, Quader said adding that his party has confidence on the president, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, came up with the remark while inaugurating a construction work of a bridge in Jagannathpur upazila of Sunamganj, the Bangla daily said.

An AL delegation led by party chief and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on January 11 placed 11-point proposal to President Abdul Hamid during talks, initiated by the president for the formation of the new EC.
The party tabled the proposal for limiting the jurisdiction of the election-time government to carrying out only routine job as had been the legal provisions for the nonpartisan caretaker governments in the past.
It also recommended empowering the Election Commission with supervising authority over the administration, law enforcement agencies and all other departments engaged in the election process.
The tenure of the current EC expires this month.
