DU fresher forced to do squats, driven away from dorm
Some BCL activists at Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque hall of Dhaka University have forced a student to do squats holding his ears in public over a trifling matter.
The victim, Khokan Sarker, a first-year student of Mass Communication and Journalism department, was also driven out of the dormitory last night as he could not identify the BCL men at the dormitory’s guestroom.
Our junior leaders cannot evict someone from the hall. Only I can take these steps: Asif Talukder, gen sey of BCL’s Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall unit at DU
BCL activists -- Nazmul and Sujon of banking department, Alamin of sociology, Ahad of political science, Toufiq of Islamic history, Ahmed Munir of theatre and performance and Azizur Rahman of geography – led the humiliation, reports our DU correspondent quoting hall sources.
Later, some senior students of Khokan’s department, who are also the residents of the hall, brought the victim back to the dormitory.
Hall sources said the BCL men are followers of Asif Talukder, the hall unit general secretary of the student front of ruling Awami League.
Contacted, Asif said, “It was nothing but a misunderstanding. Our junior leaders cannot evict someone from the hall. Only I can take these steps.”
