CPB congress calls for national unity
Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) President Mujahidul Islam Selim today called upon his party to forge a unity against communalism, imperialism and the absence of democracy in the country.
“We will have to forge a democratic unity to fight against communalism, imperialism, looting, and absence of democracy in the country,” Selim said in the party’s congress inaugural.
Both Awami League and BNP are bourgeois parties and they believe in sharing of power, Selim said while addressing his party’s 11th congress that began this afternoon at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.
“Awami League is a bad political party while BNP is worse than the Awami League,” he said. “We will have to forge the unity without these bourgeois parties.”
A total of 683 district-level representatives including females and ethnic minorities took part in the congress in the inaugural session today. The congress will go on for four days.
Around 26 foreign delegates from 12 different countries attended the congress that is expected to end on October 31 forming its full-fledged committee to achieve the party’s goal.
