BNP will stage a sit-in programme in front of Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka tomorrow demanding immediate release of the party's Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.
The one-hour programme will begin around 11:00am, Rizvi Ahmed, senior joint secretary general BNP, told The Daily Star.
The party has decided to hold the sit-in in front of its Nayapaltan central office, but the place has been changed as per suggestion of the law enforcement agencies, Rizvi said.
Contacted, Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said no written or verbal permission was given for tomorrow’s programme.
The party on March 4 announced the programme demanding Khaleda Zia's release from jail.
On February 8, Khaleda was sent to jail following a court verdict that sentenced her to five years' rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
