BNP really a terrorist party: Hasina
Echoing a Canadian court verdict, ruling Awami League President Sheikh Hasina today described her party’s archrival BNP as “really a terrorist” political organisation.
Hasina, also the prime minister, came up with the observation while addressing MPs at a meeting of Awami League Parliamentary Party this evening.
In a verdict on January 25, a Federal Court in Canada gave an observation describing BNP is a terrorist organisation and rejected an application of a BNP man for the status of permanent residence (PR) there.
Meanwhile, rejecting the court verdict, BNP leader Rizvi Ahmed today termed it as a “stage-managed”.
“A drama has been staged providing wrong information to the Canadian Immigration Division. And the court’s observation over BNP is a part of a drama staged by [Bangladesh] government,” he said.
Rizvi, addressing press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka, also said: “It is their (government) aim to create a smokescreen ahead of the upcoming general election.”
