26 AL men sued over attack on Fakhrul
Twenty-six activists of ruling Awami League and its front organisations have been sued over attack on BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other BNP leaders in Chittagong.
Enamul Haq, a former general secretary of Chittagong District Bar Association, filed the case with Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in the district around 11:00am, reports our local staff correspondent.
Later, the court ordered Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the incident and submit a report by July 18, said advocate Abdus Sattar, lawyer of the plaintiff.
In the case, plaintiff Enamul, also a member of local Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, mentioned the names of the accused who are local activists of AL and its front organisations Jubo League and Bangladesh Chhatra League.
Fakhrul and his motorcade came under the attack in Chittagong while the BNP leaders were on way to landslide affected areas in Rangamati on Sunday.
Fakhrul and six other BNP leaders were injured during the incident.
