Political unrest fuels inflation
The overall inflation rose by 0.2 percentage point to 7.35 percent in December last year, thanks to political turmoil that disrupts supply chain across the country.
The inflation rate was 7.15 in November, 2013.
Food inflation increased by 0.45 percentage point and stood at 9 percent in December while non-food inflation reduced by 0.53 percentage point to reach 4.88 percent, according to a statistic of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics BBS.
The overall inflation went up due to the political unrest, Golam Mostafa Kamal, director general of the BBS, said while releasing the data today.
