Police attacked, accused snatched away in Mymensingh
Unidentified assailants attacked a police convoy, stabbed two policemen and snatched away a man accused of a tree felling case today in Muktagacha upazila of Mymensingh.
The incident took place in Chandpur area around 12:30pm, reports our Mymensingh correspondent quoting Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Muktagacha Police Staion.
Two policemen, Shahinoor and Rezaul Karim, assistant sub-inspectors of Muktagacha Police Station, sustained gashes on the head and body, he said.
Ten months ago in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh, assailants attacked a police convoy and snatched away a condemned militant under broad daylight.
Police launched a crackdown in the area to detain those accused in cases filed in line with the local forest department in the morning, OC Kamal Hossain said.
“From there, the lawmen took captive one person named Abdullah. The convoy was attacked when the policemen were escorting the held to the police station.”
“The assailants attacked with sharp weapons. They snatched away the accused, stabbed two policemen and fled,” he added.
The two wounded policemen were first rushed to Muktagacha Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital.
The crackdown was still underway, however, no one could be arrested and no cases were filed in this regard until last reported around 4:15pm.
