PCJSS threatens non-cooperation movement
Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS - Santu Larma faction) has threatened to start a non-cooperation movement from May 1 next year if the government does not take any effective measures to implement the roadmap of the CHT peace accord by this time.
“The framework for the non-cooperation movement will depend on time and situation,” PCJSS Chairman Jyotirindria Bodhipriya Larma, known as Santu Larma, said at a press conference at Sundarbans Hotel at Karwan Bazar in Dhaka today.
The then Awami League government and PCJSS signed the peace treaty on December 2, 1997, which recognises the rights of the ethnic communities of Chittagong Hill Tracts.
PCJSS must prevent if the government takes any step against the indigenous people (Jumma) during implementation of the accord’s road map, Larma said.
“Seventeen years have passed after signing of the deal. But I can’t remember when the last meeting regarding the peace accord was held,” he said.
The PCJSS leader alleged that the government has been giving false assurance to the indigenous people.
