Pakistani held with Rs 50 lakh at Dhaka airport

Customs officials arrested a Pakistani citizen along with around 50 lakh of Indian rupees at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital early today.

Abdur Rahim, 35, came to Bangladesh from Qatar via Dubai a week ago, Ishrat Jahan Ruma, assistant commissioner of customs, told The Daily Star.

He went the airport late last night to receive his luggage, the official sad.

On his suspicious movement, the customs official challenged Rahim when he was crossing the green channel of the airport along with his luggage around 12:30am.

Later, he was arrested along with the rupees stashed in his luggage, Ruma said.
