Over 100 hurt in Brahmanbaria clash
At least 100 villagers including 10 policemen were injured during a clash among the people of three villages over trivial matter in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria this morning.
Two houses were also set on fire during the clash that started among the residents of Kalichcho, Surjakandi, and Nayagaon villages around 9:30am, our correspondent reports quoting Abdul Hai, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Sarail Police Station.
The villagers swooped on each other with bamboos and sticks that left at least 100 people injured, the OC said.
On Friday, Mujibar Rahmana, a local businessman of Surjakandi village, picked up an altercation with CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Parves of Nayagaon when the latter denied giving side to Mujibur’s motorcycle at Kalichcho bazar.
As a sequel to the scuffle, the people of the three villages locked into the clash at different points of the three villages today, leaving 100 villagers injured.
The agitated villagers also torched two houses at Surjakandi village.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
The injured were rushed to Sarail Upazila Health Complex, Braamanbaria Sadar Hospital and different other private clinics.
Additional police forces were deployed to avert any untoward incident in the area.
