Order on Khaleda's petition Sunday
The High Court will deliver Sunday its order on BNP chief Khaleda Zia's petition challenging her indictment in Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust corruption cases.
Before passing its ruling, the court will hear arguments on the petitions on the same day.
An HC bench fixed the date today after arguments by Moudud Ahmed, Rafiqul Islam Mia and AJ Mohammad Ali on behalf of Khaleda.
Attorney General Mahbub-e Alam opposed the move.
The BNP chairperson on April 13 filed two separate revision petitions with the HC challenging a March 19 order by Special Judge’s Court-3 framing charges against her, her son Tarique Rahman and seven others in the two corruption cases.
The Anti-Corruption Commission in July 2009 filed the Zia Orphanage graft case against Khaleda, Tarique and four others for embezzling over Tk 2.1 crore by forming the "fake" trust. The commission filed the Zia charitable graft case in August 2011 against Khaleda and three others for abusing power in setting up the charity.
