Nur Hossain's bodyguard held
Detectives today arrested a bodyguard of Nur Hossain, the prime accused of Narayanganj seven-murder, from a village in Faridpur early this morning.
Mortuza Zaman alias Charchil, 45, was one of the four bodyguards of Nur Hossain, reports our Faridpur correspondent.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police picked up Charchil from his in-law’s house at Salam Khar Dangi village in Sadar upazila around 3:00am, said Sunil Kumar, officer-in-charge of Faridpur DB.
Charchil went into hiding soon after the gruesome murders, the OC added.
On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his four aides and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and his driver were kidnapped from the Dhaka-Narayanganj link road around the same time in broad daylight.
Six bodies, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were found floating in the Shitalakkhya river on April 30 and another was found the following day.
Nur Hossain, a local ruling Awami League leader who has later been expelled from the party, has been made the prime accused the case for the murders.
