Nur Hossain's associate held
Detectives arrested a close associate of Nur Hossain, the key accused in Narayanganj seven-murder case, from Brahmanbaria yesterday.
The detainee was identified as Ali Mohammad, son of Akbar Ali of Shimrail area in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj.
He was the cashier of Nur's illegal money and a close aide in toll collection, drug dealing and other illegal activities of Nur Hossain.
Acting on a tip off, a team of DB police raided Akhaura Bazar area and detained Ali, said Mamunur Rashid Mandal, officer-in-charge of Narayanganj Detective Police and also the investigation officer of the seven-murder case.
He would be produced before the court seeking remand, the OC added.
Ali was one of the three close associates of Nur Hossain detained in Kolkata on June 14.
The name of Ali surfaced during the interrogation of the others held over the killing.
On April 27, seven people, including Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Sarkar, were abducted in Narayanganj. Later, their decomposed bodies were recovered from the Shitalakkhya on April 30 and May 1.
A case was filed by Nazrul's widow Selina Islam accusing six people, including Nur Hossain as the prime suspect, in connection with the gruesome murder.
Ali along with others went into hiding following the killing.
