World leaders mourn Zillur's death
1) Acting president Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, ministers, envoys of different countries and diplomats, and family members of President Zillur Rahman stand in silence at Bangabhaban yesterday in memory of the late president. 2) India's New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah places a wreath at the coffin of the late president at Bangabhaban. 3) The president's first namaz-e-janaza being held at Haji Asmat College in Bhairab of Kishoreganj in the morning. 4) Acting president Md Abdul Hamid places a wreath on President Zillur Rahman's grave at Banani graveyard in the capital. 5) Chiefs of the three services pay their last respects at the grave. 6) Prayers being offered at Banani graveyard seeking salvation of the departed soul. 7) Acting president Md Abdul Hamid hands the national flag to Nazmul Hasan, Zillur Rahman's son, as a mark of state honour for the late president.

Heads of the states and governments of different countries yesterday expressed their deep condolence at the death of President Zillur Rahman and sympathised with his bereaved family.
Queen Elizabeth II sent a condolence message to the acting president Md Abdul Hamid to mourn the death of Zillur Rahman.
Condolence messages also came from president of the Swiss Federation; president, prime minister and foreign minister of Vietnam; president of Nepal; chairman of the interim government of Nepal; and president and prime minister of Turkey.
The ambassadors and high commissioners of the African countries--Zimbabwe, Namibia, Benin, Botswana, Uganda, Egypt and the Republic of Sudan--have signed the condolence book opened by Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi.
In another statement, Dhaka University Teachers' Association yesterday expressed their deep shock at the death of President Zillur Rahman, also chancellor of the university.
It said Zillur Rahman was a former student, well wisher and guardian of the university and the nation had lost a heroic son and a respectable politician with his death.
His contribution in the Liberation War and recovery of democracy would be remembered forever, read the statement.
Shantu Larma, president of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS), also expressed his condolence at Zillur's death.
