Gugak meets B-boying: performers at “Charm of Korea”.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea celebrated 40 years of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Korea with a musical programme in the capital, last Thursday. The show was held at the National Theatre Hall of Shilpakala Academy and was open to all.
The musical show, titled “Charm of Korea” featured 'Queen', a five-member group of Korean artistes, who performed traditional 'Gugak' music, along with 'Jinjo Crew', a famous Korean hip-hop troupe well known for their “B-Boying” -- a western street dance style.
The show was also marked by an amazing performance of beat-boxing -- a technique of making music with just one's mouth -- by Korea's top beat-boxer; J-COP.
The Jinjo Crew performed one of their award-winning dance numbers along with the beat-boxer.
Several Korean artists performed 'Samulnori', a traditional form of dance along with playing instruments and performing balancing acts.
Diplomats, expatriate Korean families, and an enthusiastic audience enjoyed the programme, along with the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Abul Kalam Azad, present as chief guest.
