“Spelling Bee” in Khulna
The Divisional Round of The Daily Star Spelling Bee in Khulna will be shown tonight at 7:50pm on Channel i. Around 150 students out of 16,100, of the Khulna Division, qualified from the Online Round.
In this episode the extended highlights will be shown, including both the written section and the oral section.
“Before we would see students play games on their computers. Recently I have noticed a lot of them playing the Spelling Bee game. So you can see a change has already started and the impact of the Spelling Bee is noticeable,” said AKM Zakaria a schoolteacher from Khulna.
The written section was a tricky one with words like “gallimaufry”, “rosacea” and “rhododendron” appearing.
From there the top 26 scorers would take part in the oral part of the competition, which follows the traditional Spelling Bee format. It would take three rounds and a tiebreaker to find the top three spellers.
The TV round qualifiers would be announced tonight when the show will be aired on Channel i. For more information, log onto www.champs21.com -- the organisers of the Spelling Bee and the first e-learning web portal in Bangladesh.
