The workers of a readymade garment blocked a road in Mirpur area of the capital for more than two hours on Monday protesting dismissal of their 13 fellowmen.

The marauding workers of MBM Garments Ltd in Mirpur-13 also vandalised at least five vehicles on the roads.

Police picked up five workers from the spot, said Kazi Wazed Ali, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kafrul Police Station.

Several hundred disgruntled workers of the factory took to the street around 7:30am when they came to know that 13 of their colleagues were fired.

The workers also vandalised the windowpanes of their factory.

On information, police rushed to the spot and bring the situation under control around 10:00am.

The traffic movement came to normalcy around 10:15am, the OC said.
