Politics of Jamaat should be banned
Finance Minister AMA Muhith yesterday said Jamaat-Shibir should be banned as they are running subversive activities across the country in the name of Islam.
"Jamaat-e-Islami is a party of war criminals. It does not believe in the independence of Bangladesh. So, its politics should be banned," he told reporters during a visit to Walton Factory at Chandra in Gazipur.
About the ongoing political standoff, the minister said if the situation continues, industrial sector will be badly affected.
"The fanatical activities of Jamaat-Shibir might be brought to an end within two or four days," Muhith hopes.
"People and the state together will resist the extremism of Jamaat-Shibir."
In reply to a question about the next budget, the finance minister said production of domestic industries will have to be increased. For this reason, the government will offer these industries special facilities in the upcoming budget to spur the growth.
Earlier, Muhith inaugurated the newly built Walton Refrigerator Factory and also visited different units of Walton Factory.
Walton Hi-tech Industries Managing Director SM Ashraful Alam, Runner Group Chairman Hafizur Rahman Khan and its Managing Director Brig Gen (retd) Shafiquzzaman, RB Group Chairman SM Nurul Alam Rizvi and its Managing Director Shamsul Alam were, among others, present on the occasion.
