One killed, 7 hurt in clashes over lands
A man was killed in an attack by a group yesterday over a disputed land at Arunbari village in Sadar upazila of Chapainawabganj.
He was identified as Azmal Hossain, 35, son of Yasin Ali of the village.
Sub Inspector Ali Akbar of Sadar police station and locals said, there had been a longstanding conflict between Azmal and his brothers Setabur and Abdul over a piece of land at the village.
Yesterday noon, Azmal's brothers and nephews suddenly attacked him with sharp weapons at around 12:30pm near their house, leaving Azmal dead on the spot.
In Gaibandha, seven persons were injured yesterday in a clash between two rival groups over a disputed land at village Jaramnadi in Sundarganj upazila, reports our correspondent.
Locals said, there was a longstanding quarrel between Meser Ali and Manik Mia over the possession of .15 decimals of land.
On the day of the incident, Manik Mia along with some hired goons attacked the house of Meser Ali and beat him up.
They also vandalised the dwelling house of Meser Ali and injured his seven family members.
Of them, Lovely Begum, 20, Meser Ali, 40, Fatema Begum, 25, Ismail Hossain, 35, Alam Mia, 32 were admitted to Sundarganj health complex.
A case was filed with Sundarganj police station. Police visited the spot, but none was arrested.
