Khaleda to meet BNP MPs at JS

Opposition leader and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has convened a meeting with party lawmakers at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban for tomorrow afternoon.
The meeting is due to start at 4:00pm at Khaleda's office, said a BNP release yesterday.
The lawmakers, who have remained absent in the parliament for 83 days, are expected to discuss their joining the budget session, which begins tomorrow.
Road crashes kill four, injure four

Three people were killed and four others injured when their car crashed into the rear of a truck near Paturia ferry ghat in Shivalaya upazila yesterday, reports our Manikganj correspondent.
The dead are Alauddin, 30, and the car driver Samrat, 28, of Singair upazila, and Parvez, 25, of Dhaka. The injured are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Our Pabna correspondent adds, Nazrul Islam, 28, died as he fell along with his motorbike from a broken bridge at Konabari in Santhia upazila on Friday night.
2 die as trains hit them in capital

Two persons were killed as trains hit them in two areas of the capital yesterday.
In Nakhalpara, Amena Begum, 55, of Thakurgaon, died after she was run over by a Dhaka-bound train around 8:00am, said Rezaul Islam, assistant sub-inspector of Dhaka Government Railway Police.
The victim had come to Dhaka to visit her son.
In Joar Shahara area, a Tongi-bound train hit an unidentified person, killing him instantly, the police said.
14 garment workers hurt during fire

Fourteen garment workers were injured while they were hurriedly getting down the stairs as a fire broke out in a factory of Chittagong city yesterday morning.
Panic gripped them at a line in the swing section on the third floor of the four-storey building of Uni Garments in East Nasirabad.
Some workers had extinguished the fire originated from an electric short circuit before fire fighters rushed to the spot, fire service sources said.
Woman falls to death from rooftop

A woman died after she fell from the rooftop of a six-storey building in Hazaribagh of the capital yesterday.
The deceased was Tamanna Anjum Mostafa.
Police recovered the body around 1:00pm.
Hazaribagh police Sub-inspector Ashraful Islam suspected that the accident might have occurred as Tamanna suffered from faulty vision and the edges of the rooftop was not surrounded by a wall. An accidental death case was filed.
Ayesha Memorial Hospital launches diabetes centre

Ayesha Memorial Hospital in Mohakhali of the capital launched a new diabetes centre yesterday.
The centre was inaugurated by Maj Gen (retd) Dr AR Khan, former adviser to a caretaker government.
"It is good news for the locals of the area to have facilities for treating diabetes within their area," he said
Ctg Samity-Dhaka honours GPA-5 holders in SSC exams
