Momo's school days
My first school was Brahmanbaria's Shurjomukhi Kindergarten School, where I studied from playgroup to class five. I made my first friends there: Ipu, Shajib, Topon, Sumon, Nazima, Adreeta, Sunny, Nancy and Bobby.
My school years had their ups and downs. Although it may not seem so terrible anymore, I was not really a fan of the school lunch my mother would give me. One day when I was particularly off it, I threw the food away. Unfortunately, my mother visited the school that day and one of my friends blabbed about what I had done. After that incident, I was forced to eat the same food at home; those were rough days.
After kindergarten, I joined Brahmanbaria Government Model High School, where I completed my SSC. Later on, I went to study at Dhaka City College. During my high school years, I would always be up to something. I often tried to skip classes after the break; sometimes I succeeded, but other times I got caught and was punished.
My friends and I used to gather Boroi (berries). We often held competitions to see who would gather the most. These antics drew the attention of some boys. Sometimes one of them would come up to me and tell me he “liked” me. I didn't care for it much; thankfully many of the guys knew my father and were afraid of him, so I was spared further embarrassment.
These are the little things that made my childhood special for me; I guess the same goes for us all.
