At least 10 workers were injured when they were running for safety after a fire broke out at a garment factory in Ashulia Thursday morning.

The fire originated on the ground floor of the six-storey building of Arba Textile Ltd at Gazirchar around 9:30am, Fire Service and Civil Defence sources said.

On information, three firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame with the help of the locals around 11:45am, SM Badrul Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ashulia Police Station told The Daily Star.

At least 10 workers of the factory sustained minor injuries when they were rushing towards the entrance hearing the fire alarm.

Reason behind the fire would not be known immediately, the OC said.
