Commercial passenger flights on the Dhaka-Barisal-Dhaka route resumed at Barisal airport yesterday.
The airport had become a field for cattle grazing as there had been no flight operation since May 5, 2009.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan, and Barisal City Corporation Mayor and city Awami League President Shawkat Hossain Hiron, among others, were present at the ceremony yesterday.
United Airways will be operating two weekly flights on this route. The flights will start from Dhaka at 5:00pm and 10:40am and from the Barisal end at 5:50pm and 11:30am every Thursday and Sunday.
