BNP standing committee, the highest policymaking body of the party, will sit in a meeting Sunday evening to discuss next course of action of the party centring restoration of the caretaker government system.

The meeting is scheduled to be held around 8:30pm at the BNP Chairperson's Gulshan office, party sources said.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will discuss with the party leaders about the party's next course of action after the 48-hour ultimatum given to the government will end on Monday evening, party insiders said.

Addressing a BNP-led 18-pary rally in Motijheel on Sunday, the opposition leader gave the ultimatum to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to make an announcement accepting the opposition demand for restoring the caretaker government system.

The alliance held the rally to protest government “failure” to properly rescue garment workers at the collapsed RanaPlaza and to demand release of detained opposition leaders and restoration of caretaker government system.
