Biman's Yangon flights deferred by a month
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has deferred the date for resuming Dhaka-Yangon flights to December 9 as it has failed to lease aircrafts, Kevin Steele, managing director of the state-run carrier, said today.
"Biman will operate two flights a week," the MD said at a press briefing at the airlines' head office Balaka.
On August 29, the airlines decided to re-start the Dhaka-Yangon flight from November. The flight remains suspended since October 2006 due to shortage of flight.
The MD said the national flag carrier will not lease any aircraft for hajj purpose next year as it has decided to operate the flights alone to gain more profit.
The airline plans to resume flights on a number of domestic routes in December, Steele added.
Except for Chittagong and Sylhet from where international flights operate, Biman suspended flights on all domestic routes in September last year to cope with a sudden shortage of aircraft and to continue uninterrupted hajj flights.
