Beyond The Ordinary
I started my schooling in Silver Bells Kindergarten and Girl's high school. Although after kindergarten was over, I moved to Chittagong Government Girl's High School. I used to love studying in that school. The atmosphere and environment were brilliant. Starting from the campus itself, the teachers and my first friends- everything combined made some of the best memories of my life that I cherish to this day. Because of my father's job, we moved to Dhaka just after two years of studying in that school and I got into Ispahani Girl's School and College. After completing my Secondary School Certificate from there, I got admitted to Badrunessa Girl's College where I studied Economics. It was a great experience studying in Badrunnessa, considering the value and name of the college itself. And Badrunnessa was mainly famous for their education in Economics, so I'd have to say I was lucky to have studied there. The best parts about school for me are that I had the best teachers in every school that I had gotten into. They were my core inspiration.
I never thought I would really get involved in media. Like every parent, my father also hoped for her children to become doctors and engineers. So I studied and had planned to be one of those. But since I used to dance when I was younger, I had some connection to the media when I had to perform for BTV. I won the Lux PhotoShundori in 1997, after which I started doing some advertisement work. Afzal Hossain, film director, used to give me a lot of advertising gigs. One day, he suddenly asked me to take part in a drama. Even though I thought that I wouldn't be able to do it because I had no prior plans to act and didn't think I could at all, Afzal bhai believed that I could and pushed and supported me. Eventually, I did my first drama with him. After that, I didn't plan on getting back into the acting but after some good offers started flowing in, I got well involved.
Even though my family had other plans for me, they have always been supportive of whatever I did. They still me and motivate me to go further. If it wasn't for them, I don't think I could ever have gotten this far. I think peace at home is the most important thing for any individual, and have the opportunity to share my days stress and worries with my parents and sisters really eased everything up for me.
Right now, since Eid is not too far off, I'm working on some dramas. But I put my drama-serial works on hold for a while until my current projects are over. It is very difficult to get any work done because of the political situation, but at the end of the way, we have to keep moving forward. So even though everything is being delayed, I'm still working and keeping myself busy.
I don't really know what is going to happen in the future. Whether in front of the camera, or behind it- I plan to be involved in media. But it all depends on what obstacles I face or what other opportunities or what troubles arise. It is hard to determine what I am going to do in the future, but until my heart's desires have been fulfilled and I reach my goal, I will keep doing what I do.
Many kids nowadays want to get into the field of acting and modelling. But what they do not remember is that they have to be extremely dedicated to be involved in this field. There are many new kids in the field nowadays who get so ahead of themselves and start disrespecting their elders thinking they have gotten much further than them. But at the end of the day, humbleness, a good heart, focus and dedication is what will get your far and help you reach your goal.
