BD-SL 1st ODI today
After a positive performance in the Test series, Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in the first One-Day-International (ODI) of the three-match series at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Hambantota today. The match will begin at 3pm Bangladesh time and will be telecast live on Maasranga Television and Ten Cricket.
The Tigers will play their first match on a wicket that is expected to assist seam bowling. However, pacer Nazmul Hossain's last-minute injury -- he was injured during practice on March 20 -- throws the selection of the team into disarray. The Tigers would have ideally wanted to go in with three seamers, but have only two proven pace bowlers in Abul Hasan and Rubel Hossain. They may have to blood All-rounder Ziaur Rahman, who is yet to play an ODI match and is considered a T20 specialist, as the third seamer. One of the few positives for the Tigers is that Rangana Herath, the Sri Lanka spinner who tormented the tourists in the Test series, has been rested for the ODI matches.
Despite the pre-match troubles, the Tigers, having won their last ODI series against the West Indies at home, will hope to continue their good run. Bangladesh have so far won three out of the 30 games they played against Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh players would wear black arm bands today mourning the president's death.
