Woman commits 'suicide' in Barisal

A woman committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house following a family feud at KDC Balur Math slum of Barisal city yesterday.
The deceased was Khadiza Begum, 35, a domestic help, and wife of Jahangir Hossain, a rickshaw puller.
Man's body recovered from septic tank at national park

Police recovered the charred body of an unidentified man, aged around 30, from a septic tank at Bhawal National Park on Sunday night.
Police suspect that he might have been killed and burned a few days ago elsewhere and dumped there.
Three arrested with 2,500 yaba tablets in Ctg

Police in separate drives arrested three people with 2,500 yaba tablets worth Tk 7.5 lakh from the Notun bridge area of Bakalia in Chittagong city yesterday.
Two men hailing from Comilla were arrested with 2,000 tablets, and another was arrested with 500 tablets. Two cases were filed.

Two women allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves in separate areas under EPZ Police Station in Chittagong city yesterday and Sunday.
Johra Khatun, 28, of Noakhali, killed herself yesterday following a family feud. Sabina Akther 24, of Shariatpur also committed suicide for the same reason, said police.
Both were garment workers.
Man dies falling from five-storey building

A man died after falling from the roof of a five-storey building in Double Mooring area of Chittagong city yesterday.
Md Alamgir, 18, of Comilla, slipped while he was climbing down on the sun shed of the building for repairing an air-conditioner, said a co-worker.
He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where he died after half an hour, said police.
Koica training wokshop for govt officials starts

A three-day training programme of Koica on “National Development Strategy Planning Program for Bangladesh Government Officials” started yesterday at the Lakeshore Hotel in Dhaka.
The workshop, jointly organised with Korea Institute for Development Strategy, will be conducted in order to evaluate the action plan implementation progress related to national development strategy planning of Bangladesh and to offer follow-up activities for the former multi-year training program participants.
Girl's body exhumed for autopsy

Following a court order police yesterday exhumed the body of a girl for an autopsy, two days after her burial.
The body of Tanjila, 5, daughter of Mirza Sabbir Ahmed, was sent to Osmani Medical College Hospital. Police also arrested Sabbir from Surma gate area.
On Saturday, Sabbir and her second wife killed Tanjila, daughter from his first marriage, and buried the body at the city's Manik Pir graveyard, said police.
Later, they recovered a blood-stained dress from the house, and arrested Afza and Sabbir.
