Gang impersonating police snatches money from trader in capital

Muggers impersonating police snatched Tk 6.5 lakh from a businessman in the capital's Banani area yesterday.
Mamun Mollah, a garment waste trader, was heading towards Gulshan-2 on a rickshaw after withdrawing the money from a bank around 3:30pm.
Around four to five muggers picked him up in their microbus saying that he was a wanted accused in a murder case. They shortly dropped him after taking away his money, said police quoting the victim. Police are verifying the matter as Mamun was giving confusing statements.
Man arrested with 1.3kg gold at Shahjalal airport

Customs officials detained a man with 1.3kg gold worth Tk 65 lakh from Shahjalal International Airport in the capital yesterday.
Ziaur Rahman, 40, of Munshiganj, was a passenger of a Malaysian Airlines' flight that landed around 12:15am, the officials said.
Searching his handbag the officials found two gold bars weighing 1.27 grams and jewellery of 100 grams.
Kidnapped girl rescued after 3 months

A 13-year old girl, abducted from Gazipur three months earlier, was rescued from Panchagarh yesterday.
Police arrested the alleged abductor, Abdul Hamid, 20, of Matiapara village under Panchagarh Sadar upazila. He is a technician of a workshop in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur.
Police said the girl, of Kaliganj upazila, was abducted on her way to school in May.
Following a case filed by the girl's father police rescued her using modern technology to trace the abductor's location.
Man's body recovered in Sylhet

Police recovered the body of a man hanging from the ceiling of a house in Pathantola area of Sylhet city yesterday.
Syed Amzadul Haque, 25, of Noakhali, was an electrician and used to stay at the house on the first floor of a building, family sources said.
Quoting family, police said he might have committed suicide as last year he attempted suicide twice over family feuds.
Grameenphone brings 'Internet for all' to Chittagong
