Depression intensifies in Bay
The depression over southeast Bay moved slightly northwestwards and intensified into a deep depression.
A special Met Office bulletin said it was centered at 6:00pm yesterday about 1,670- km south-southwest of Chittagong port, 1,580-km south-southwest of Cox's Bazar port and 1650-km south of Mongla port.
“It is likely to intensify further and move in a west-northwesterly direction,” it said.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 48- km of the depression centre is about 50kph, rising to 60kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain moderate.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla have been advised to hoist distant cautionary signal number one.
All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay and deep sea have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
