Police asked to quicken probe into blast cases
Home Adviser Maj Gen (Retd) MA Matin yesterday asked police to speed up the investigation into the Ramna Batamul bomb blast and the SAMS Kibria murder as a high-level meeting reviewed the probe progress of sensational cases.
According to a home ministry statement, the adviser particularly asked the police to submit the charge sheet in the Ramna Batamul case as early as possible while he was presiding over a meeting of the monitoring cell for sensational cases.
It said the meeting reviewed 10 cases, mostly murder ones across the country, seeking progress reports from the investigation officers concerned.
The meeting was told that charge sheets in five cases, out of ten, including the murder cases of journalist Belal of Satkhira, model Tinni and Helal of Kalabagan, were submitted.
Home secretary Mohammad Abdul Hakim, additional IGP of CID, director general of Rab, deputy attorney general, public prosecutors and officials concerned were present.
