A mobile court yesterday sealed off several pumps at four petrol-refuelling stations in city's Mohakhali area for tempering the pump metres.
The court formed jointly by the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-1) and a magistrate also fined several restaurants and sweetmeat shops for selling unhygienic foods.
The court fined several refuelling stations, restaurants and sweetmeat shops a total of Tk 2.15 lakh during the daylong drive in the area.
Rab officials said they sealed off the pumps at petrol refuelling-stations where the metres appeared to be tempered. Owners were found to giving buyers less amounts than what they were charging them for.
The refuelling-stations affected are CM Service Petrol Pump, Toshba Petrol Pump, Armum Petrol Pump and Swadhin Bangla Petrol Pump.
The restaurants and shops fined are Hotel Jalkhabar, Hotel Jalkhabar Mistanna, Contilentor Restaurant and Nandan Restaurant.
Rab officials said the drive in Mohakhali continued from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
