The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday implicated detained Harkatul Jihad (Huji) leader Arif Hasan Sumon in yet another case, for his involvement in the blast at a CPB rally in 2001.
CID showed Sumon arrested in the case for the blast at a CBP rally on July 20, 2001, which killed seven people and injured several others.
CID inspector Abu Hena Mohammad Yusuf produced Sumon before the court yesterday seeking his remand in connection with the CBP blast.
The magistrate, however, fixed May 5 for a hearing on the case.
Sumon is already an accused in case for the Ramna Batamul blast on April 14, 2004, and has confessed his involvement.
The Huji leader is also an accused in the August 21, 2004 grenade attack on an Awami League rally on Bangabandhu Avenue that killed 24 people and injured over 300 others.
