Dentists, students besiege CS office to press 6-pt demand
Dental surgeons of the city and students and Interns of Rangpur Dental College besieged Rangpur civil surgeon's (CS) office for three hours from 11:00am yesterday to press home their six-point demand, including not providing membership of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) to dental technicians.
Around three hundred dental surgeons, students and interns brought out a procession in Rangpur city and later besieged the CS office, put it under lock and key and staged demonstration there.
They also gave a memorandum to the director general of the Directorate of Health through Dr Riazul Islam, civil surgeon of Rangpur.
"We will start tougher movement if the authorities concerned do not comply with our demands within February 6," said Meftaul Islam Milon, assistant professor of dental department of Prime Medical College in Rangpur.
The agitators withdrew their cordon as Dr Riazul Islam assured them of informing the authorities concerned of their demands.
The civil surgeon said they will take initiative as early as possible to stop practice of the fake dental surgeons and those without BMDC registration.
