Punish killer of BRAC's female doctor
It is indeed great news that BRAC, a Bangladeshi NGO has been nominated as top NGO among 450 such organisations around the world.
BRAC has been campaigning for poverty alleviation, emancipation of women, ensuring women's right for a long time. Unfortunately, it failed to ensure safety to one of its own officials. Sazia Afrin, a female doctor, was murdered in a private clinic operated by BRAC at Dakkhinkhan area of the capital last November. She was murdered just two weeks after joining the clinic. The caretaker of the clinic later admitted that he killed the young doctor after failing to molest her.
One single incident should not take away all the gloss of years of hard work of BRAC. But charity does begin at home. BRAC now should put some serious efforts so that the murderer gets exemplary punishment.
