The playing conditions of the ongoing Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) yesterday became the subject of chaotic contention.
The tournament committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) first provided a point system which had no provisions for batting or bowling bonus points in a press conference prior to the start of the newly-designed competition. However, the playing conditions that were distributed to the franchisees included the batting and bowling bonus scoring system and the first round matches were played accordingly.
Realising their mistake however, the BCB distributed revised playing conditions which again had no provision for bonus scoring for batting and bowling on the second day of the second-round matches.
“We can't understand how it happened. It might be a printing mistake or somehow some additional pages were mistakenly provided. We are investigating the matter but the playing conditions which we announced in an official press conference will stand,†said Naimur Rahman, the member secretary of the BCL committee.
BCB making a mess of the playing conditions is nothing new as the first edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 had faced similar problems and saw a farce surrounding the declaration of the fourth semifinalist.
